1) Explain the experience of taking a test together, what did you gain by using this method?

  • I prefer taking tests in a group! It is a helpful method because although you must know the material yourself, if you are stuck or need help eliminating wrong answers, it is very helpful to have a group opinon on the answers.

2) If you chose not to use the answers that the group suggested, why…what was your reasoning?

  • I chose the same answers that the group chose, but if I had not it would have been because the group wasn’t taking enough time to think through the questions.

3) Do you feel that your academic integrity was compromised?

  • No, I didn’t feel like my academic integrity was compromised. If it had been a larger class and material that I had put a lot of effort into studying, I might have felt compromised.

4) Do you think that someone was capitalizing on your academic knowledge…maybe the student that did not study?

  • If someone was capitalizing on my academic knowledge, I would still feel that it was my benefit to work in a group. Even if someone else was gaining from my knowledge, I would still be making sure that all my answers were correct. It would benefit both of us.

5) What is a situation that using a collaborative method of communication (taking a test) would not be beneficial?

  • It would not be beneficial to use a collaborative method of communication if you had not prepared for the test at all because you would not be able to use your own knowledge when checking the consensus of the group. You would be taking a big risk in trusting that all the answers from the group were correct.

6) What made you naturally choose to work in a group when I just laid down the tests and said good luck?

  • Two heads are better than one! Other than making you second guess yourself occasionally, working in a group is beneficial. Chances are you will need help on a few questions.

7) Were there any rules, or did the classroom create the rules?

  • There were not any rules when we started the test. The rule became to voice which answer you thought was correct and why. Sometimes it was neccessary to look up answers in the book.

Define a tribe.

  • A tribe is a group of people connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea. A group needs a shared interest and a way to communicate to be a tribe.

  • He would tell us to make sure and leverage each other and not sit back and “hide” from opportunities that come with leadership.

Chapter Three

  • Specialist Audience: work in a field in which they display expertise. They are experts in their field, understand the terminology of their field, require minimal detail regarding standard procedures, read to discover new knowledge, need little background information regarding a project’s history or objectives.
  • Semi-specialist Audience: includes coworkers in other departments. Might include bosses, subordinates, or colleagues. Might have been actively involved at one time, but moved towards management and away from hands-on. Someone might be a semi-specialist based on their level of education or how long they have worked in a certain business, company, or corporation.
  • Lay Audience: customers and clients who neither work for your company nor have any knowledge about your field of expertise are the lay audience. Communicating to a lay audience is difficult because they don’t know subject matter.
  • Multiple Audience: Information is not always communicated to just one type of audience. Your report could be sent to several audiences.
  • Multicultural Audience: creates challenges. Some countries require documentation be written in the local language. Each language version must be identical in content, readability, tone, style, and emphasis.

Business Idea

If I received a check for $25,000, I would open some kind of business that has to deal with financial planning or advising. I could hire financial planning agents that would have clients with either a lot of money to handle or not enough. The financial planning specialists would help and teach smart and economical ways to spend or save their client’s money.

I would choose to open this type of business because individuals, families, couples, other businesses and corporations need help managing money in the most beneficial way. Often times it takes an outsider to help with smart choices when it comes to handling income and savings.

With the $25,000, I would open an office, use it for advertising and getting the word out about what my business does. I would hire a professional financial advisor and a hopefully the money would grow as the business grew.
